ÖGMBT

AUSTRIAN ASSOCIATION OF MOLECULAR LIFE SCIENCES AND BIOTECHNOLOGY

The Österreichische Gesellschaft für Molekulare Biowissenschaften und Biotechnologie (ÖGMBT), exclusively non-profit, it is the major society representing molecular life sciences and biotechnology in Austria. The association currently comprises 1,300 individual and 90 company and institutional members.

The aims of the society are to promote molecular life scientists in Austria, to provide a platform (ÖGMBT Annual Meeting, Life Sciences Career Fair, events calendar, branch news,…) for interdisciplinary interaction of all stakeholders and to build a bridge between academia and industry.

One of the main goals of ÖGMBT is to promote young, dedicated scientists. To this end ÖGMBT has a bottom-up initiative called Young Life Scientists Austria (YLSA), who organize career path events, provide job profiles online and in person Stammtische (Regulars' Tables) in the four regional branches of YLSA. Furthermore young scientists get access to funding opportunities and can apply for the Life Sciences Awards Austria competition for outstanding PhD thesis and research.
